Edward E. Lamberg, 96, of Rapid River, Michigan passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.
He was born on April 25, 1925 to Albin and Emma (Tyberg) Lamberg. Edward was born in the family home in Ensign that he later purchased from his parents. Edward attended grade school at the Stone Anderson School near his home. He was united in marriage to Anita Groleau on November 22, 1947, and they made their home in Ensign where they raised their 5 children. Anita preceded Edward in death on February 5, 2015.
Edward worked in the woods with his Father in his early years. From April 1945 to December 1946, Edward served in the military in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan during the rebuilding of that city after the war. Edward worked for Snowden, Inc for 40 plus years. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Rapid River. He was devoted parishioner serving as Eucharistic minister. He also worked on lawn care, maintenance projects and enjoyed his pasty making for many years at St. Charles. He was a lifelong, 77-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 301 in Rapid River.
Survivors include his children, Glenn (Phyllis) of Grand Rapids, Loita Buchholtz (Mike, deceased) of Escanaba, Yvonne Buchholtz (Thomas) of Bark River, MI, Rhonda (Robert Pacella) of Houghton Lake, MI, Edward II (Heidi) of Hendersonville, TN; Grandchildren: Bradley (Michelle), Derek, Raquel Billings (Brent), Ranae Zellar (Doug), Bobby Pacella (Kelsey) and Riley Pacella, Christina and Nicole Lamberg; Great Grandchildren: Camden Lamberg, Zoe Lamberg, Hannah Lamberg, Olivia Lamberg, Zachary and Zayden Zellar; Great Great Grandchild: Evelyn Mae Lamberg; Sister: Irene Pomeroy (Gilbert, deceased) of Escanaba; Sisters-in-law: Marlene Lamberg (Sander, deceased) of Ensign, MI, and Audrey Lamberg (Bertil, deceased) of Escanaba, MI; Brother-in-law: Joe Pohlhammer (Irma, deceased) of Wisconsin.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brothers, Loyal, Bertil, Sander and Robert Lamberg; and sisters, Elvera Pomeroy, Mabel Reams, Irma Pohlhammer, Norma Kelly, and Elduraine Lamberg.
Edward loved the outdoors, working in the woods and with animals on his farm, especially feeding the deer, turkey, birds, and other wildlife. He enjoyed improving his land by building ponds, creating roads and clearings for wildlife. Family and friends were very important to him and he had always wanted to know that their needs were cared for expressing his great love for them. He will be greatly missed.
Edward’s family will receive visitors on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, MI, with 7 pm Military Honors by the Rapid River American Legion Post 301. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 12, at 11:00 AM at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Rapid River, with Rev. James Ziminski officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Parish Hall. Interment will be in the spring at the Rapid River Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Edward’s name can be directed to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
