Lourn Lee Young, age 66, of Gladstone, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at UP Health Systems in Marquette.
Lourn was born on March 31, 1955, the son of Willard and Mary (Burton) Young.
Lourn graduated from Gladstone High School in 1973. He was a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians along with Sons of the American Legion. He was employed by Marble Arms Corporation until the late 1970’s. Lourn finished his working career as a machine operator at Escanaba Mead Paper Company, retiring in 2013.
Lourn was an avid outdoorsman for many years, hunting and trapping. He enjoyed watching his Detroit sports teams, watching and attending Nascar races, and watching his deer. He also enjoyed spending time joking around and playing with his grandkids.
Lourn is survived by his daughter Kristi (Derik LaFave) Duerson and his son Nicholas (Amber) Young both of Rapid River, long-time partner Anita Kohnert of Gladstone, her children Shannon Kohnert of Escanaba and Ray Kohnert of Gladstone, Brothers Michael P. (Connie) Young of Gladstone and William J. Young of Gladstone, grandchildren Kaden and Brendan Duerson and Dominic and Myka Polequin, niece Tanya (Jeff) Amann of Skandia, nephew Joshua L. Young of Gladstone and special friends Kathy and Ken Mathers of Gladstone.
Lourn was preceded in death by his parents.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am with Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Young family.
