Nolan R. Caswell, age 91, of Rapid River, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Christian Park Healthcare Center in Escanaba.
Nolan was born April 7, 1930, in Escanaba, the son of John and Pearl (Eagle) Caswell. Nolan grew up in Brampton. He worked for most of his life in the logging industry and was an owner/operator for many years. He was a perfectionist, even when it came to piling the wood. They enjoyed living on Corner Lake before relocating to Rapid River.
Nolan liked to cook, go hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed their family camping trips in Canada and going on jaunts with his family. Nolan was a gifted musician, especially with his guitar. He played for 20 years at the Newberry Festival, and enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his sons. He also enjoyed family gatherings which were always centered on food and music. Nolan was a car enthusiast, and also was a snowmobile trail blazer for his group called the Red Barn Night Owls. He enjoyed being with his family, and was a great grandpa to his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be truly missed by so many.
Nolan is survived by his children Nolan G. (Julie) Caswell, Wesley (Sammi) Caswell, Raymond (Mary) Caswell, and Mark (Pam) Caswell, sisters Betty (Don) Hendrickson and Helen Belongie, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
