Rick, Your Mom was a neat lady and a big influence in my life along with many others. The combination of a regular mom and our school teacher was unique and a great advantage for us as kids and as well as for her in the classroom. Please know you are in our prayers.May God comfort you and give you strength at this difficult time.

This is a tribute to Joyce. She was my senior year English teacher, I remember her as a tough, fair, and determined teacher. She was the only teacher who realized we were not ready for college English and she worked very hard to get us there.

This is a tribute to Joyce who was my high school English teacher. She was a tough, fair, determined teacher who realized we were not ready for college English. My senior year with her resulted in my graduating from college with a minor in English and a major in special education as well as graduate school and being a teacher for thirty eight years. Her example plus her sense of humor were guiding principles for my teaching career. I have continued to be a life long learner and lover of language and literature. Thank you, Joyce . To the Collum Family, I am sorry for your loss, your mother was a great teacher.

THANKS BE TO GOD FOR THE GIFT OF JOYCE’S LIFE! Condolences to Joyce’s family.

and let light perpetual shine upon her.” BCP p. 502

Our hearts are truly broken over your passing. You were my surrogate Aunt and I know that you were a very large member of our family. We traveled all over and had more laughs than I ever thought possible. Your caring love got our family through the loss of my parents and the healing process afterwards. The life lessons you taught to me and thousands of students are a legacy that is truly special and changing the world everyday! God definitely called an angel home!!!! You will be missed more than words can express.

I came to know Joyce through my husband, Al, and my only regret was not having her in my life sooner. One of her first requests to me was that our children refer to her as ‘Grandma Joyce’, which touched me greatly. She was really like a 2nd mother to my husband, having been very close friends with his mother for many years. She was a very intelligent, gifted, and caring person, and she will be greatly missed by our entire family. We are very saddened by her loss and extend our thoughts and prayers to her family (who often treated us as their own) in this time of loss.

    Rick and ED,

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. She and your dad were Alf’s and my second parents. She definitely set me on my path and helped make me the person I am today.
