Terry Joe Belongie, age 60, of Gladstone, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Terry was born on June 23, 1958, in Escanaba, the son of Joseph G. and Helen J. (Caswell) Belongie. Terry was a graduate of Escanaba High School.

Terry was a wonderful husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was married to his best friend and love of his life for 41 years. He was also very proud of his two sons, Jeremy, and Brian. Terry was always offering any help he could and that friendly smile he was so known for.

Terry devoted his life to 40 years as a knowledgeable auto parts salesman. Along with his devotion to work, he was an active member of the Krusin Klassics for 33 years. He took joy in spending time with grandchildren and cherished any time spent with his family. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and a great time. Terry has made such an impact in so many people’s lives, and will be missed dearly by so many people.

In addition to his loving wife, Terrie Lynn, he is survived by:
Mother: Helen J. Belongie of Gladstone, MI
2 Sons: Jeremy (Dawn) Belongie of Brampton, MI
Brian (Crystal) Belongie of Gladstone, MI
2 Sisters: Kristine (Mack) McDonald of Gladstone, MI
Holly (Matt) Marenger of Escanaba, MI
6 Grandchildren: Kassidy, Devin, Chace, Kaylin, Natalie, and Gabriel.
And numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Terry was preceded in death by his Father, Joseph G. Belongie in 1997

Family will receive friends Friday, December 14, 2018 from 2:30 until 5:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. A closing prayer will follow visiting hours at 5:30 PM with a luncheon to follow at First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Terry will be laid to rest in Rapid River Cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Belongie family.

    My dearest, oldest friend, we are all grieving with you and your family. Terry Joe was just a truly amazing guy, it was as if you found your other half of yourself when you met him. He will never be forgotten by us, and many many others whose lives he touched. A most generous and wonderful man. Our kids will always remember “Big Bertha” and the caves:) What a lovely memory amongst many for them to have. Terry Joe will be greatly missed by so many people, his great smile will always be remembered as well as his friendliness , kindness & giving ways. He now is sleeping peacefully in the arms of the angels & will forever be your protector & your guide on this earth.

    Terry will be missed! I was fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with him at Chatfield’s in the early 90s. I learned a lot from him. Godspeed my friend! Prayers to Terry’s family and friends!
