Ruth Sealy Mortensen, 90, of Escanaba, passed away Saturday morning August 19, 2017 at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

Ruth was born July 22, 1927 in Hurley, WI the daughter of Clarence and Bernice (Martin) Sealy. She attended and graduated from Hurly High School in 1945. She continued her education and received her L.P.N. degree. She received specialized training in Psychiatric nursing and was also a Certified X-Ray Technician. Her working career included the cities of Minneapolis, Duluth, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Ironwood and Escanaba.

Ruth was united in marriage to Bruce A. Mortensen in Hurley, WI in 1954. They resided in Ironwood, MI until 1981 when they moved to Escanaba. Ruth worked for Community Mental Health in Escanaba until her retirement in 1990.

Ruth was active in church and community activities in Hurly, Ironwood and Escanaba. She currently was a member of the United Evangelical Covenant Church in Gladstone.

Survivors include: Daughter-in-law, Faye Mortensen of Escanaba, granddaughter, Natalie Mortensen of Escanaba, sister-in-law, Theresa Sealy, nieces, Laura Lansing and Lizbeth (Lon) Mabie, all of Milwaukee, WI. Special friends, Ken and Debbie Jussila and Jim and Lorna Johnson.

In addition to her parents, her husband Bruce, in 1980, son, Jack, grandson, Eric and her brother, Jack Sealy preceded Ruth in death.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Ruth Sealy Mortensen will be held on Monday September 18, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the United Evangelical Covenant Church in Gladstone with Rev. Nathan Langager officiating. Coffee and refreshments will follow in the United Evangelical Covenant Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells, MI. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the family.
