Ronald Charles Anderson, 88, of Gladstone, passed away Monday April 9, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Ronald was born June 20, 1929 to Judith and Charles Anderson in Detroit, MI and moved to Gladstone at an early age. He graduated from Gladstone High School in 1947 and joined the U.S. Navy. He served 4 years on the U.S.S. Prairie before returning to the U.P. where Ron attended Northern Michigan College and graduated with a business degree. He worked in the office of Anthony and Company until he retired in 1981.
Ron was united in marriage to the former Joan Freeman on August 18, 1956 at the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba. He was a past member of the Gladstone Golf Club and Dickinson Rod and Gun Sports Club. He loved spending time at his camp in Hardwood. Also, he and his wife spent many hours on the bay fishing, both summer and winter.
Ron is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan, daughters, Susan (Brian) Farrell of Escanaba and Lynn (Paul) Trudeau of Gladstone. Grandchildren, Amanda(fiancé Bradley Broeders), Nicholas, Meghan and Taylor, niece, Julie (Gary) Olson and family of Kennewick, WA, Nephews, Jeff (Kyoko) Nelson and family of Kirkland, WA, and Gary (Donna) Olson and family of Bremerton, WA.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Judith Anderson, and sister, Carol P. Nelson, and brother-in-law, Merwin Nelson.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday April 14, 2018 from 12:00 to 1:30 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Military rites conducted by the Gladstone American Legion Post #71 will follow at 1:30 pm. Funeral services celebrating the life of Ronald Charles Anderson will follow at 2:00 pm with Tom Otis, Pastor, officiating. Luncheon will follow in the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed the First Lutheran Church or the Michigan Parkinson Foundation. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes are assisting the Anderson family.
