Norma M. Mattonen, age 97, of Wells, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family early Wednesday morning, August 8, 2018 at Christian Park Center.

Norma was born February 18, 1921, in Cornell, MI, the daughter of Joseph and Norma (Colburn) Terrien. She was united in marriage to Wilho “Bill” Mattonen, who preceded her in death in September 1998. In 1957 the couple moved to Wells where they raised their 4 children together.

Norma enjoyed reading, and cooking for family and friends. She spent 11 years at the Sunny Shores Foster Home in Gladstone.

Norma is survived by:
4 Daughters: Bonnie (Marvin) Miller of Pine Ridge, MI
Sandra Sanchez of Livonia, MI
Nancy (Donald) Demeuse of Gladstone, MI
Donna Taylor of Wells, MI

6 Grandchildren: Debbie (Jim) Groleau, Steve (Annette) Minor, Wanda Sanchez, Mark (Sharon) Sanchez, Linda Sanchez, and Donald (Jennifer) Demeuse, Jr.

4 Great Grandchildren: Chris Minor, Loren Sanchez, Kaitlyn, and Chelsey Demeuse

1 Great Great Grandchild: Rhandi Minor

And Numerous Nieces and Nephews

In addition to her husband, Wilho “Bill” Mattonen, she is preceded in death by:
4 Brothers: Bernard “Bun”, Carl, John, and George
1 Sister: Mary Thompson

Family will receive friends Friday, August 10, 2018 from Noon until 2:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba, with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Norma will be laid to rest beside her husband in Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Mattonen family.

    I want to extend my sympathies to all the family members of Norma. I use to work at Sunny Shores while Norma was a resisdent and enjoyed taking care of her. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
