Michael L. Creten, age 90, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Monday, May 27, 2019 at the Bishop Noa Home.
Mike was born August 16, 1928 in Gladstone, MI, the son of Paul and Lenore (VanDonsel) Creten. He graduated from Gladstone high school in 1947. After graduation Mike had a few different jobs before being drafted and serving in the Korean War.
Mike was United in marriage to the former Joyce Lindahl on November 29th, 1952 and they shared 67 years of marriage and raised their son and daughter.
Mike worked for the Soo Line Railroad for 16 years before leaving to join Mead Paper retiring in 1991.
Mike enjoyed many years of camping with his family and later in life with the Good Sams Club. He also enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and spending special times with his family.

Brother: Dan (Kathy) Creten of Escanaba, MI
Sister-In-Law: Marilyn Creten of Escanaba, MI
2 Grandchildren: Kayla (Dan) Verbeek of Gladstone, MI
Melissa (James) Sankovitch of Bark River, MI
3 Great Grandchildren: Emma, Griffyn Verbeek, and Erick Sankovitch
And many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
In addition to his Parents, Mike was preceded in death by his Brother, Phil Creten.
Family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 2:30 until 3:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military honors will be presented at 3:15 PM by the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 4:00 PM at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Bishop Noa Home. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Creten family.

I first became friends with Mike during the training phase for the startup of Mead’s No. 4 paper machine in 1982. Mike was a member of the original startup crew working as stock prep operator. Mike was always ready with a big smile to be followed by a hearty laugh. He was a pleasure to work with and did his job with competence and reliability. After his retirement from Mead, I would occasionally bump into Mike somewhere downtown and we would reminisce about days in the paper mill. You were one of the good guys, Mike. Rest in peace.
