MaryJoy A. LaVigne, age 66, of Escanaba, passed away Monday afternoon, October 16, 2017, at Marquette General Hospital, in Marquette.

MaryJoy was born September 30, 1951, in Norway, MI, the daughter of Martin and Gertrude (Anderson) Hultquist. She was raised in Norway where she also attended school. On December 28, 1973, MaryJoy was united in marriage to Richard LaVigne and together the couple made their home and raised their family in Beloit, WI and Escanaba, MI. Her husband Richard LaVigne preceded her in death on May 29, 2006. In addition to raising her family, MaryJoy worked as a nurses’ aide for many years. She enjoyed coloring, crafts and watching her favorite television shows. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include:
Sons: Daniel, Ricky and Matthew LaVigne
Daughters: Cynthia (Robert) Anderson, Tami Robson, Rev. Tina (Ron) Schuenke,
Bonnie (David) LaVigne-Dowd and Christina (Kelly) Porath Also surviving are MaryJoy’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Martin and Gertrude and her husband Richard LaVigne, MaryJoy was preceded in death by:
Daughter: Annette LaVigne
Son in law: Jim Robson

Funeral services for MaryJoy will be held privately at the convenience of her family. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.

    Love you. You will be greatly missed. Fly high and say hi to everyone especially dad.

    Sending my sympathy to MaryJoy’s family. I didn’t know her well but I remember when she and Christina were baptized at the Covenant church. I remember her as a gentle soul who loved her family. I hope all is well with her children and grandchildren – I’ve lost touch since moving to Minnesota recently. God’s peace to all of you.

    I will miss you Mary Joy I will treasure the time we had growing up together always in our hearts and never forgotten for you left foot prints on our lives spread you wings for now you will be free of your pain love you dearly
