Mary L. Olive, age 97, a lifelong resident of Gladstone, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday December 15, 2016, at Northwoods Assisted Living in Escanaba.

Mary was born March 21, 1919, in Kipling, the daughter of George Sr. and Agnes (Polequin) Rivers. She was united in marriage to Marvin Olive and together the couple shared 61 years of marriage. Marvin preceded Mary in death on May 14, 1998. Mary was a kind caring soul who was always willing to help others. She loved to laugh, had a beautiful smile and her sense of humor was unmatched. Mary was a member of All Saints Church in Gladstone. She loved music, dancing, completing her daily crossword puzzle and spending time at the family cabin.

Mary is survived by:
Daughter: Gloria (Ray) Walechka of West Allis, WI
Grandchildren: Kim (Kelly), Lori, and Mary (Mike) Great
Grandchildren: Joseph, Brenna, and Ryan
Nieces: Susan Cretens and Rita Mae Notestine
Nephew: David (Carol) Rivers
Also surviving are close friends, Linda and Rod Phillips.

In addition to her parents, George Sr. and Agnes and husband, Marvin, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Olive in 1991, sister, Marjorie Cretens and brothers, Louie, George and Daniel.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday December 28, 2016, from 3:00PM to 5:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral service will follow visiting hours at 5:00PM on Wednesday, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, with Rev. Fr. Brian Gerber of All Saints Church officiating. Luncheon will follow in the All Saints Parish Hall. Mary will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in the spring time. Memorial contributions may be directed to All Saints Church in Gladstone. Envelopes will be available throughout visitation. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.
