Malcolm W. Swanson, age 82 of Rapid River, passed away Friday morning, January 12, 2018, at Christian Park Health Care Center.
Malcolm was born January 20, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Gunard and Esther (Bowman) Swanson.
Malcolm served in the United States Air Force. He went on to obtain his master mechanics license and soon after went to work for United Airlines for over 30 years. After retirement he enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, building and making his home special for he and his wife. He was an avid reader of history. All his life Malcolm was known as a man of many interests and projects. To the end, he continued focusing of new ways to move forward with his dreams. His hugs and handshakes will be missed.
In addition to his loving wife Margie, Malcolm is survived by sons Eric (Yong Ju), York (Dawn), Daniel, Sean, daughter Karin, six Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren and Sister Karen Koch.
Malcom was preceded in death by parents Gunard and Esther Swanson.
A commemoration of his life will be scheduled for spring. Date will be posted at a later date. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Swanson family.

There are those certain few people in our lives that really make an impact and Malcolm was one of those people. His intelligence and kindness caused him to bond with many of us. He would give you the shirt off his back and help with anything he could to get people through problems. We will all miss his greetings come Sunday morning at Congregational Church in Rapid River. He had a smile and a comment for everyone. Both Malcolm and his wonderful wife Margie were gracious and kind to everyone in their paths. Our prayers to Margie as she deals with her loss. The one blessed thing about God’s Children is once we have made it to that step in our lives where we cross over into that next realm, we will suffer no more and have eternal peace. I really feel in my heart that Malcolm being the intelligent man that He was, knew that there was a God that loved him and would take him home for all eternity in spite of the testing he went through with his health. Looking forward to a blessed reunion with Malcolm once we make that journey.
