Louis H. LaCosse

Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died December 14, 2018

Louis H. “Louie” LaCosse, age 77, of Gladstone passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at home.

Louie was born February 6, 1941 in Perkins, Michigan, the son of Alphonse and Alice (Vallier) LaCosse. On May 6, 1967, Louie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marge, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins and together the couple made their home in Perkins, for many years, before moving to Gladstone where they lived the rest of their lives. Together they were devoted to their Catholic faith and proud members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Marge passed away suddenly on November 24, 2011 and Louie spent the last 7 years longing for the day they will join again in heaven. He worked for the Delta County Road Commission for 35 years and 3 months as a heavy equipment operator, plowing snow in Northern UP. He retired on July 27, 2006. Louie was a true craftsman. He was extraordinary woodworker and a “fixer” of almost anything. He took pride in working hard and personally cut his own firewood well after retirement, maintained his own yard, and enjoyed spending time working on projects in his garage. He also enjoyed feeding birds and watching the wildlife in his backyard. He loved a warm cup of coffee with a few cookies and good, long conversations shared with close family and friends.

Louie is survived by his siblings, Geraldine Wery, William “Sonny” (Bonnie) LaCosse, Duane LaCosse, and Larry LaCosse. Also surviving are his godchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite “Marge” LaCosse, his parents, and two brothers, Jimmy and Donald LaCosse.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 20 at 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins with Fr. Joseph Augustine officiating. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Louie will be entombed in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

The family is being assisted by the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or to a charity of your choice.
