Lorraine (DeRouin) Oslund

Resided in Groos, MI
Died February 13, 2018

Lorraine (DeRouin) Oslund of 5224 18.85 Lane (Gross), Escanaba went home on February 13, 2018. She was ninety years old and proud to have lived longer than all her siblings. She was living at Northwoods Place where she was well cared for and happy.

Lorraine married Charles (Ozzie) Oslund Jr. on August 3, 1946, and together they had six children. She was strong, and creatively gifted with the spirit of an artist.
Together they enjoyed singing with Sweet Adelines and Barber Shoppers, often practicing while the family was eating breakfast, harmonizing with each song. They square-danced, fished, and camped, devoted to one another, inseparable until Charles preceded her in death in 1979.

Lorraine is survived by five children: Valerie (Carl) Rose of Escanaba, Charles (Gail) Oslund III of Gross, David (Liz) Oslund of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Kim (Sharel) Oslund of Gross, Jeff (Tammy) Oslund of Escanaba. Their daughter Carrie Lynn died in 1971 at age fourteen. Lorraine leaves 27 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 8 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Escanaba with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will be served following the services in the parish hall.

In honor of Lorraine – a kind and caring person who always had a smile and kind word for everyone – the family asks that you perform acts of kindness in her name.

Deepest sympathy to all of the family. I was lucky enough to know Lorraine for a few years. She would talk about her family often. Each story was filled with love and pride. She loved you all so much. She was a wonderful person and I was happy to have her in my life. Fly with the angels my friend.

Your Mom always has had a special place in my heart as do all of you! You were all so wonderful helping her leave this world as independent and gracefully as she could.
