Died March 14, 2017

Gladstone, MI

Linda A. “Lindy” Ross, 62, of Gladstone, MI returned to her heavenly home Tuesday, March 14, 2017 while surrounded by her family.

Lindy was born March 13, 1955 in Evergreen Park, IL the daughter of Roy and Joan (Zilligen) Micks.  She was raised in Palos Heights, IL where she graduated with honors in 1973 from Mount Assisi Academy High School.  Following graduation, she continued her education at Western Illinois University and Moraine Valley College where she received her degree in Respiratory Therapy.  Lindy was a Respiratory Therapist for 33 years at O.S.F. St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba until she became ill.

Lindy’s fondest memories came while raising her family; she was a loving mother who enjoyed every moment with her children.  She also adored spending time with her four grandchildren.  Regular family gatherings at the family camp were the highlight of the week with good food, company and card games.  She always played a vicious game of Rummy and Smear.

Not a day went unrelished in Lindy’s life as she made the most of every moment and brought smiles to those around her.  She enjoyed participating in activities with friends such as pickle ball, racquetball, exercise class, bird watching and walking her dog Riley while ‘ball hawking’ along the golf course.  Recently, to escape the cold U.P. winters she traveled to Florida where she enjoyed the ‘retirement life’.

Through her life, Lindy grew enormously in her faith.  As an active member of All Saints Catholic Church, she regularly attended Mass, participated in bible study and was involved in other church activities.  Her support extended to many additional causes in her journey; serving others brought joy to her heart and she brought joy to those surrounding her.  All who knew her will sadly miss her.

Lindy is survived by: her children, Michael (Casey Larkee) Ross of Green Bay and Danielle (Ryan) Frappier of Gladstone; brothers and sisters, Janet (Bob) Halm of Rapid River, Ken (Amy) Micks of Rapid River, Dan Micks of Gladstone, Kevin (Lisa) Micks of Orland Park, IL and Roy (Susan) Micks of Rapid River; grandchildren, Paislee, Alexa, Alivia and Adam; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Roy and Joan Micks; sister, Karen Micks; sister-in-law, Audrey Micks; nephew, Joseph Micks; and the father of her children, Bill Ross.

Lindy’s family will receive friends on Monday March 20, 2017 from 1:30 to 4:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5:00 PM at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Father Jamie Ziminski officiating.  Luncheon will follow at Gladstone American Legion.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Lindy may be directed to All Saints Church or Delta County Cancer Alliance, envelopes will be available at the Skradski Funeral Home.

So many fond memories of Lindy and her family. Sad she had to leave us so young. My deepest sympathies to Mike and Dani.

Lindy fought a good fight – she finished the course – she kept her faith. Lindy died to young – so many things and adventures left to live. When I think of Lindy I think of Psalm 23 ” The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures (The Haymeadow), he leads me beside quiet waters ( Haymeadow Creek), he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Lindy – You will be missed by many.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you Mike,Danielle and family your mom was so kind and thoughtful to everyone so sorry for your loss
