Laurel Jean Eagle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017.

Daughter of the late Nick Alko of Perkins and Lena Snowaert of Schaffer, Laurel was born in Escanaba, Michigan on November 7th, 1953. In 1971, she graduated as valedictorian of Perkins High School.
She married the love of her life, John Anthony Eagle, Sr. at St. Joseph’s Church in Perkins, Michigan on July 8th, 1972. Shortly after the wedding, the beautiful couple moved to Texas, where John was stationed as an Airman in the United States Air Force. Throughout his career, they were stationed in Texas, New Hampshire, Lower Michigan, and at K.I. Sawyer. John retired after 24 years, making their home in Gwinn.

Laurel was selfless, loving, and utterly devoted to her family. She loved to cook and garden, but her greatest joy was spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Laurel is survived by her husband of 44 years, her
mother and step-father, Lena and Ted Snowaert, sister, Nicole “Lynn” Mcgaugh. Devoted mother to Nicki (Jason) Markle, John Jr. (Daniela) Eagle, Michael (Lynn) Eagle, and Amanda (Nathan) Ihamaki. Loving grandmother of Jonathan, Tyler, Emily, and Collin Markle; Carolyn, Hannah, and Lila Eagle; Ethan and Payton Ihamaki; and Alaina Eagle.

Laurel’s family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating.
