Larry K. Eagle of Rapid River, Michigan passed away November 2, 2017 at Hospice of E.U.P. with his family by his side. He was born March 9, 1947 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Earl and Emma (St. Germain) Eagle. Larry graduated from Sault High in 1966 after which he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served two years. He married his loving wife Margaret McIlvain on June 29, 1969.
Larry worked 31 years as a railroad mechanic for Soo Line, Wisconsin Central, and retiring from Canadian National in 2001. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post #71 in Gladstone, Michigan. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, collecting gadgets, and shopping. Larry volunteered during the holidays to deliver food baskets to local veterans.
Surviving Larry are his wife Margaret of Rapid River, Michigan, daughter Brenda (Dee) Ransom of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Preceding Larry Eagle in death are his parents, brothers Leroy and David, and his sister Shirley.
Larry’s family will receive friends on Saturday November 11, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Rapid River Congregational Church. Military rites conducted by the Rapid River American Legion Post #301 will conclude the visitation at 4:00 pm. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following military rites. Memorial contributions in memory of Larry may be directed to the Salvation Army or to the U.P. Honor Flight. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Eagle family.
