Jennifer Jean Vermote, age 44, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday July 11, 2017, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, in Wisconsin.

Jennifer was born February 7, 1973, in Escanaba, the daughter of Gerard Vermote and Laurie (Moreau) Lippens. She was raised in Gladstone and was a 1991 graduate of Gladstone High School. Jennifer was a kind, loving, softhearted person. Making people smile was something Jennifer sought after. She enjoyed making new friends and spending time with the ones she loved. Jennifer had a love for all animals. Horseback riding was a passion to her and she loved to compete in barrel racing competitions at the W.P. Ranch, in Gladstone, which afforded her many ribbons and trophies. Jennifer was employed at Wal-Mart Super Store in Escanaba for the past 17 years. She was proud to have recently received the Employee of the Month award and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Jennifer is survived by her parents, Gerard Vermote of Gladstone and Laurie (John) Lippens of Escanaba:
Sister: Tami Vermote of Escanaba, MI
Brother: Luke (Nicole) Vermote of Danforth, MI Also surviving are Jennifer’s nieces and nephew, Fiona, Stormy and Austin.

Jennifer’s grandparents, Ken (Mabel) Moreau and Contant (Elsie) Vermote preceded her in death.

Jennifer’s family will receive friends on Monday, from 2:00PM to 5:00PM, at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Closing prayers will follow visiting hours at 5:00PM. Luncheon will follow at the Escanaba Township Hall in Flat Rock.

    Where do I start? I first met Jen in High School. What a character she was, not only back then, but her entire life. She had a smile that would light up a room. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be missed, greatly. Rest in peace with the angels, my dear, sweet friend! ❤️❤️

    Thank you for talking me into our adventures, endurance riding with our Arabs, and then taking them on the MTRA Shore to Shore ride . Twice ! Boy did we have plenty to learn, the whole time laughing , joking and smiling through it all. Your smile and laughter were contagious, your greatest gift to us all, I will miss you dearly, and treasure our many years of friendship. Until we meet again my dear friend. I love you sweetie and will miss you .

    Words are just not enough, but all we have. I am so sorry for your loss. Jen was the kind of person that touched the heart, many hearts. I am so glad I got a chance to see her at work just before her passing. As always, there was the smile that reached her eyes, that kind of smile that made you smile. As usual she asked how things were going, always caring, always full of compassion. Just some of the things I will never forget about her.

    Jennifers Family, she was one of the most genuinely kind, gracious and loving souls you would ever have been lucky enough to meet…I was lucky enough to call her my friend through those tough growing up elementary thru high school years. We reconnected thru FB, a simple hello and a chat but you can sense her smile and it made me feel better !!! Heaven gained an Angel.     I first met Jenny when she was coming to rides with as a young girl. She always had a smile on her face and never forgot you even if it was years since she last saw you. She will be greatly missed.

    Difficult time to say good bye to you on Monday. May your family find peace and remember all the good times. Rest in peace Jennifer. Will miss your sweet smile.
