On February 5, 2018 Jayme Lee Oman, age 32, went to be with the Lord. May his tender heart and troubled mind find peace in death that couldn’t be found in life. He was born in Escanaba, MI on September 14, 1985 to Jeffrey Oman and Katherine Farrell.

Jayme was raised in the Gladstone area and attended school there. He recently moved back to the area from Louisiana.

He had a quick smile, was a loyal friend and had a strong sense of faith and family. He loved his Grandma Elaine’s cooking, and often asked for her recipes so he could learn to make them when he was in Louisiana.

Jayme will be deeply missed by those close to him. Although he struggled to believe it Jayme had a lot of people who loved and prayed for him.

He is survived by his father Jeff, brother Josh Oman and sister Mikayla Mathias. He is further survived by his paternal grandmother Elaine (Lachance) Oman, aunts Lee Anne Oman, Escanaba, and Sandy (Ed) Wilson, Gladstone, uncles Bruce (Tina) Oman, Menominee, Michael (Debra) Farrell and Brian (Sue) Farrell of Escanaba as well as cousins Stephen Oman, Laura (Paul) St. Louis, Emily Oman, Jenny (Bryan) Miller, Morgan Wilson, Marshall Wilson, Amanda Farrell, Meghan Farrell, Sommer (Russell) Watson, Alex Reilly and Starla (Aaron) Anderson. Jayme is also survived by a large extended family and many friends.

The family would especially like to thank Aunt Lee Anne for her unwavering support throughout Jayme’s life, and cousins Deb and Eb Hoehl who were so supportive of Jayme during and after his residence in Louisiana.

Jayme was preceded in death by his mother Kathy, who passed away on December 31, 2017. He was heartbroken that they had such a short time together after his return to Gladstone. He was also preceded in death by paternal grandfather Stephen Oman, and maternal grandparents Francis “Fritz” and Nona (Sayen) Farrell.

Family will receive friends Thursday, February 15 from 4:00 until 5:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Pastor Ron Westman will be officiating the service at 5:30 PM. A luncheon will follow at the Gladstone American Legion, 802 Delta Avenue, Gladstone, MI 49837. Please bring a dish to pass. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Oman family.

    A truly kind person who positively touched so many more lives than he was even aware of. He will be missed by many and may he find the true peace that he looked for in life. My love and prayers go out to his family. The world lost a great man who had just begun to realize part of his potential. I love you buddy n miss you.

    I was fortunate enough to be with Jayme often during his stay in Louisiana, spending many family holidays with him. He loved to talk and liven things up. Boy, he looked good in a suit when he went to church.

    Jayme loved the Lord Jesus Christ and I believe he is in heaven with Him today. He loved to read the Bible and cared deeply for those who don’t know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

    In the words of Jesus “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” John 11:35

    Jayme was a true believer who loved the Lord, a dear boy. He will be greatly missed. Time and again I was impressed to see such humility and honest devotion in the things he said. We love you, dear Jeff and Josh, and you are in our thoughts and prayers. May the God of all comfort, comfort you.

    I had the privilege to be the teaching minister at the church Jayme attended while he lived here in Lafayette, LA. It was always a joy to see Jayme sitting in the congregation, looking up at me, smiling and enjoying the study of the Bible. I was also a witness on the glad day that Jayme’s dad Jeff baptized him in our church’s outdoor baptistry. I know we will see Jayme again on that happy day when the Lord Jesus Christ returns in the air to raise believers who have died and to snatch up and transform we believers who are alive, so that we shall always be with the Lord. Come Soon, Lord Jesus! My prayers and the prayers of our church are with you, Jeff, Josh and the many members of your family in your grief. God bless you.

    Jayme was such a great encouragement always! His contagious energy and friendly personality made him such a blessing to be around. It was such a blessing to have known him. The fire he had for the Lord and His word were such a wonderful thing to witness. He will truly be missed. Our family’s hearts and prayers go out to you and your family. Jeff, Josh we are very sorry for the loss of your son and brother. To be absent in body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). We will see him again one day soon!

    Jeff and Josh I know it has been a long long time I am vary sad to see him go. I just got a hold of him an wanted to catch up an all the sudden this happened. Me and him where always up to no good when we where kids but I will always have them memories.
    Have so many stories of us that will never be forgotten. My mother used to call him “her little cute bad oman” he was loved an always thought of.
    From what in have seen he had done vary well by all means that makes me happy for sure. Glad he has found the Lord

    Jayme Oman will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. His spirit and energy was very contagious! He was my very first love. We spent a lot of time together. I got to know the best of Jayme. His family became my family. His Father Jeff took me in, and I lived with them throughout most of high school. His Aunt, LeeAnne , brother Josh, and Grandparents also welcomed me with open arms. I fell in love with his qwerky, enthusiastic, and strong personality. He was opinionated and very smart! He had an incredible memory, and was well educated. He was able to remember so many detailed facts, especially about history, religion, and anything he had interest in really. He taught me a lot. He was very passionate in many ways! He loved to collect coins and old antiques. He found a lot of joy in that. He was also talented in taking things apart and putting them back together, a very smart way to learn. He could fix almost anything! I remember one time, he took apart one of my super nintendos to clean it out. It was at my Moms house, and before he had the chance to put it back together, she threw it away. Luckily I had more than one, so I wasn’t too mad. Every time I think of the super nintendo days, I think of Jayme and all the good times we had, listening to music that he was passionate about while we played the nintendo until we beat the game, because saving it wasn’t an option. Don knows the determination I’m talking about! He had a lot of passion for music, movies and the directors, musicians, drums, collecting treasures, but his passion for the lord, and spreading the word, was the most inspiring one of all. When Jayme was in Louisiana, he wrote me a couple letters about how happy he was that he found a deep connection with the lord, and he wanted to spread the word to those he cared for and needed it most. That was extremely thoughtful and shows how caring he was. Jayme really cared and had a huge heart. He was a faithful servant to the lord, a rare and beautiful trait in that young man was truely inspiring! This has been devastating and very hard to accept. Jayme was on the right path, the demons he fought took over him that night. He was proud to be a child of God, and do his will by spreading the word. My hearts aches but his message lives on. You inspire me Jayme. We love you!!!

    It was the demons you fought with, that took your own life
    But because you were so proud to praise God,
    we wont ever forget that! Your message carries on.

    Growing up with Jayme, there was always laughter when he was around. He was a brother to me and to my brother Josh. Jayme was a loyal, giving and caring friend. As for his family, well, he set the bar high when it came to unconditional love and support. Many memories come to mind when I think about him. But the ones that stand out, are always when we were younger and he always made sure everyone was included. If someone had a problem going on, well he would make sure you had a good laugh and then would help you solve it. Even if he had something of his own going on at the time. I know he had a strong and amazing relationship with God. He was very happy to share his story in finding god. He was a extremely selfless person. Words can’t do this Justice. I will forever have him in my heart and prayers. My heart and prayers also go out to his family, all of whom are amazing people.

    I am a distant cousin to Jayme. I was blessed to get to know Jeff, Josh, and Jayme after they moved to Louisiana. We celebrated several Christmas’s together at Deb and Eb’s in Lafayette, LA. Jayme’s faith in God and his sincere desire to grow in knowledge of the Lord impressed me. At one point, he talked about going to a Bible College and becoming a pastor. Also, Jayme was interested in cooking and we talked about that. I wrote out a recipe for him on a decorative card and he was emphatically appreciative of this simple gesture. We had fun racing plastic reindeer, singing songs, talking, working on puzzles, and enjoying time together. I am very saddened by the loss of Jayme; however, I am comforted by the belief that he is with the Lord.

    My thoughts and prayers are with Jeff and Josh and all who are grieving. I wish that I could be with you today, but I am in spirit. The Lord is kind and merciful and will bring comfort to you.
