James R. Profit, age 77, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, February 27, 2019 following a lengthy battle with cancer at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI.

Jim was born December 17, 1941, in Cass City, MI,the son of Kenneth and Fern (Karr) Profit. He was raised on the family farm. Upon graduation, Jim joined the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge, he worked in the Pontiac area where he started his Auto Body career. Jim moved to Escanaba in the early 70’s. He owned and operated Profit’s Collision for 28 years until his retirement.

Jim was very witty. He could tell jokes at the drop of a hat. He was proud of his band- The Country Hashbrowns. He met the love of his life, “Jody” in 1995. They were united in marriage August 6, 1999. They were inseparable. Jim will be sadly missed by all that knew him. He has a great sense of humor and was a very positive man. He made friends wherever he went and had a lot of them.

Sister: Judy (Bill) Threloff of Trenton, MI
Sister-In-Laws: Jeanette (Matt) Thomma of Escanaba, MI
Joanne (Steve) Sullivan of Escanaba, MI
Joy (Scott Nelson) LaPalm of Bark River, MI
7 Grandchildren
2 Great Grandchildren
And several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

In addition to his Parents, Jim was preceded in death by:
Brother: Phillip Profit
Sister: Patricia Easton

Family will receive friends Monday, March 4, 2019 from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military Honors will be presented at 5:45 by the Delta County Veteran Council at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral Services are scheduled for 6:00 P.M. with Pastor Christine Bergquist officiating. A luncheon will follow at Crazy Joe’s Bar in Escanaba. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes are assisting the Profit family.

    Over the years I have enjoyed many cups of coffee with Jim and welcomed his company each time. Truly one of the “good guys” of the community. Rest in Peace, Jim.

    Jody, Im so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. You have many great memories to make you smile thru this difficult time. And when you hear the songs he played & sang, the memories of those will always remain in your heart.

    We are so sorry for your loss. We so enjoyed having the Hashbrowns play for our Rock dances. Jim was a very talent singer and musician, but he was also a wonderful man with great integrity, and so much fun to be around. We will miss him! Alice & Richard Weidner
