3 Tributes for “Hazel Irene Mary Klug

My sister just called to let me know my Sweet Aunt Hazel passed away on Monday.
Tears fill my eyes. My heart is breaking. One is never prepared to lose a dear friend no matter the age…
Hazel and I became friends when Mom passed away in 1995. Our friendship continued to flourish over the years.
She has been such a joy in my life. I always looked forward to/loved spending time with her when I was in Escanaba.
Never was there a lack of words or smiles or laughter whenever we got together…
    So many interesting stories –
about meeting Uncle Walt and making the long journey from England to America on the Queen Mary to be with her husband.
It was her first trip to America – alone and pregnant.
My trips to Escanaba became less frequent after Dad passed away in 2004 but we kept in touch via cards/letters.
I can’t recall a holiday passing when I did not get a card/note from Hazel. I shall miss her holiday cards. I shall miss her.
She always focused on the positive despite the challenges, struggles and tragedies she encountered in her life’s journey.
She was such an inspiration to me. I should only hope to age as gracefully as she did. Keep an eye on me Hazel!
My condolences to her family. She had nothing but good to say about her children.
I knew Pete best – went to school with him at St. Joe’s so many years ago. Hazel mourned his death. It was painful.
She missed her son who lived so far away.
She loved her girls who always took such good care of her – especially when her health waned in later years.
May I be so lucky when I get older.
To Melvin, Janet, Cheryl, grandchildren, great grandchildren and to her much loved sister/Bobbie and her husband/Roger –
Whatever soothes your spirit, comforts your soul, and brings you peace… that is what I wish for each of you.
Hazel – “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Master.” Matthew 25:23

I will miss visiting with Hazel and seeing her smiling face in Elmer’s. She was always so kind and welcoming to me in her home or on the street whenever we met. Hazel, Walter and Pete are thought of and missed often by many people. My their family gather strength from friends and great memories of better times together.
