Gary E. McMahon, age 78, of Escanaba passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the UP Health System in Marquette.

Gary was born November 8, 1939 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Martin and Virginia (Fielder) McMahon. He was raised in Rockford and graduated from St. Joseph High School. He also attended and graduated from Rockford College Business School and Bay de Noc Community College. He spent his career working as an office manager and accountant. Gary was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Bayshore Kiwanis and the Youth Assistance Program.

Gary is survived by his children, Susan (Thomas) Timler of Escanaba, Kevin (Veronica) McMahon of Stevensville, MI and Brian (Joann) McMahon of St. Joseph, MI; grandhcildren, Joshua McMahon, Rob Gibson, Megan (McMahon) Boddy and Ryan, Shannon and Erin Timler; great granddaughter, Laila King; mother of his children, Donna (O’Connor) McMahon of Escanaba and serveral nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Martin and Clyde McMahon.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 24 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM with Fr. Fran DeGroot officiating.

The McMahon family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.

    I will always remember Mr. McMahons smile and unique laugh. Now God and all those that have gone before us can enjoy.

    Uncle Gary was awesome. Upbeat and positive, hardworking and well liked. I was very sad to hear of his passing, the sun shines a little dimmer with him gone. 🙁

    Gary was an honest loyal man. He was a hardworking man and enjoyed helping other people. He will be missed.

    My condolences go out to the McMahon family for their loss. Gary was always a pleasure to visit with & he had such a great smile. His death will leave a void in the lives of those who loved him.

    My grandpa never forgot a birthday, he never missed one of our sports games or concerts that he knew about, and we both loved the packers. His laugh and smile lit up a room. I’ll miss him dearly❤️

    I got to know Gary when he became a part of the Delta Astronomical Society. He enjoyed the meetings, always had a kind word to say to people, and joined us for some of the observing events. He was such a nice guy and had a great laugh. Blessings to his family.

    We’ll always have fond memories of Gary. His quick smile and positive attitude always cheered us up. Everyone who knew him will miss him. Our sincere sympathies go out to his family.
