F. Robert “Bob” Prins, Jr., age 64, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at home following a battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.

Bob was born February 10, 1953, in Troy, New York, the son of Fred Robert and Betty Jean (Edward) Prins, Sr. He was raised in Gladstone and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1971. Bob was united in marriage to Carol Delveaux on May 26, 1973, at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. He was the owner and operator of National Car Rental in Escanaba for the past twenty years. Bob was a member of the United Evangelical Covenant Church in Gladstone, as well as the Terrace Bluff Golf Club. He loved golfing, especially playing his weekly foursome matches. Bob also enjoyed participating in numerous golf tournaments which included winning the President’s Cup tournament with partner, Steve Delveaux, during his final summer of golf. He was also a lifelong Green Bay Packers and Michigan fan, an avid reader, and spent hours solving crossword puzzles. Bob also loved spending time with friends and family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Paula (Eric) Lundin, Robert (Brooke) Prins, and Katie (Jake) Sinclair, all of Gladstone; his grandchildren, Megan and Abby Lundin, Elena, Alex, and Jack Prins, and Jacob and Calvin Sinclair; his sisters, Judy (Mike) Donovan of Cornell and Bonnie (Steve) Janchenko of Gladstone; sisters-in-law, Barb (Jim) Sovey of Gladstone and Loretta (Jake) Jacobson of Fremont, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Steve (Patty) Delveaux of Gladstone, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM at the United Evangelical Covenant Church.

A dinner will be served following the services in the fellowship hall. Bob will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery.

    So very, very sorry to hear about Bob; he will be deeply missed by all of us at GYC, the Monday Night Gang, and by me personally.
    Bob had that sense of humor that was infectious and kept us all in stitches. He and I could rib each other but he ALWAYS got the best of me! I tried my best to get him to sing, since singing was a passion of mine, but he would have nothing of that. He enjoyed poking fun at the singing Three Stooges, comprised of myself and the late Don Bjorklund, & Paul Frederickson whenever we’d break into song at the Club; oh well, we could take it!
    When Linda and I joined Covenant church, you & Bob were one of the first couples we met and we cherished that.
    I’m currently in St. Pete Beach, Florida and saddened that I won’t be in attendance at the service on Friday, but my sincere thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

    Carol & family: sorry to hear about the passing of Bob. He was a great guy who I enjoyed joking, laughing, golfing, & tipping with. He will be missed by his family & friends. Con Yago

    Andrea and I are very sorry to hear of your loss. As a kid no trip to the tennis courts was complete without a visit to your house. As I got older, Your and Bobs presence at my Birthday parties (really just an excuse for my parents friends to come drink) was always a great gift. I always enjoyed his smiling face and quiet nudge with a joke. Bob was good to my dad after leaving Northern Motors and for that I will always be thankful.

    I’m really sorry for your loss. Bob was a great guy. He was my boss at one of my first jobs, at Mr. Movies. He always made me laugh,and treated me with nothing but kindness. And even 20 years later he would remember my name and chat with me when we would run into each other. I have nothing but funny and good memories of him and I’ll miss our little chats. You’ll be missed my friend

    Sending my thoughts and prayers for you, Carol, Paula, Katie, and the rest of the family. Wish I could be there with you. May God walk with you as you grieve and adjust to going on without Bob. No matter how great Heaven is, while we’re still here it’s hard to say goodbye.
