Emily J. Wells, age 88, of Wesley Chapel, FL, formerly of Stonington, passed away early Thursday morning February 14, 2019, at her home in Florida, surrounded by her loving family.

Emily was born in Escanaba on October 1, 1930 to Peder and Gida (Gunderson) Pedersen. She was raised in Stonington and was a graduate of Rapid River High School.

On December 22, 1951, Emily was united in marriage to Forest D. Wells at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonington. Due to Forest’s construction career, the couple made their home in Arizona, California and Alaska before returning to Stonington in 1968. Upon their return, They purchased the “Lit’l Bay de Noc Cash Market”, from her father Peder who established it, and worked until their retirement in 1987. They then moved to Florida to live near their children and grandchildren.

Emily was a life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonington, a member of the Eastern Star and member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed listening and singing along to a variety of music as well as singing in her church choir. She will be deeply missed.

Elizabeth and Christina Jager
Also surviving are Emily’s 6 great grandchildren and her nieces, nephews and cousins.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Peder and Gida, her husband Forest:

Visitation for Emily will take place on Saturday March 23, 2019, from 1:00PM to 2:00PM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonington. Celebration of life will follow at 2:00PM with Sue Sundstrom Young officiating. Emily will be laid to rest in the Lakewood Cemetery, in Stonington, in the spring. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.
