I’m very sorry to hear of Derwith’s passing. He was a brilliant man. I will always remember him peering down his nose back and forth from a complicated electrical drawing, (if one was available), back to the damaged equipment and somehow figuring it out and getting it operational again, often at the drop of a hat, while he was juggling other projects. He was invaluable to our business, reducing downtime’s to a minimum. All this was done in good spirit and humor with that unique laugh of his.

Derwith was a great guy and had a great sense of humor. Haven’t seen him in a long while, but will never forget him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy, Barb and rest of family. RIP Derwith!!

I’d known Derwith for a lot of years, as many electricians had : always a good/ fair guy to work for; and also in general… a man of many talents. Sounds like he has lived a full life. Condolences go to his many family members. RIP brother Derwith.

I’m so sorry to hear of Derwith’s passing. he was a great guy I enjoyed talking to him whenever I could he will be missed,thoughts and prayers are with the Carlson family.

I knew Derwith since 1972, when Lakestate Industries was started and his brother, Carl, was an employee. Derwith completed almost all the electrical wiring required for the various expansions. He had a really creative mind, not just with electricy, but with life in general. Many years ago he said that one item on his bucket list was to walk from Upper Michigan to South America, just to see that world, close up. He said it would take a long time, but would be worth it. I asked, what does Barb think of that idea? He said, she said she wouldn’t go!, with that chuckle of his. Just a few months ago I saw him in the parking lot outside a large grocery store in town & he was looking at 2 electricians, one on the ground and one up in a bucket. I asked him if he really misses being up there & he said, Not really, but if I was, that job would’ve been done a few hours ago. He was also a businessman, a very generous and kind person who looked at the world a little differently than most and left fond memories for about everyone who met him. For his family, you have a great loss, but filled with many, many memories of a man that lived a full life and left a very positive impact.
