Delores Arleen O’Dell, age 76, of Garden and Soldotna, Alaska passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Rapid River.

Delores was born June 3, 1941 in Central Lake, Michigan, the daughter of George and Alma (Shonk) Finch. She was united in marriage for over 55 years to David O’Dell, on August 18, 1962 in Bellaire, Michigan. She has resided in Alaska for the last 30 years, working for the Calvary Life Fellowship Ministry, serving the homeless. She also ran an outreach farm in Garden.

Delores is survived by her husband; children, Daniel (Angie) O’Dell of Rapid River, David (Jackie) O’Dell of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Dean (Kathy) O’Dell of Soldotna, Alaska and Dawn (Scott) Tomaso of Soldotna, Alaska; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Lester (Cleo) Finch of Bear Lake, Michigan, William Finch of Soldotna, Alaska and Faye (John) Kirkpatrick of Bellaire, Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Marvin “Buddy” Finch and a grandson, Heath.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 12 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. A time of food and fellowship will follow at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River. Delores will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery.

    Although I never met her, I have great love for her husband and his siblings and relatives. God’s peace and blessings to you all at this most difficult time.

    She was one of the best friends you could ever have. We had a lot of good times together. We double dated a lot. Attended the youth group at our church together. She stood up with us when we got married. What a wonderful friend with lots of special memories! Thanks for the memories D. Love, Nancy

    Delores was a very special cousin. All our growing up years, we loved any time we could be together. We had such good times. She was the maid-of-honor at my wedding.
