Today the Heavens opened and the Lord called our Mother home. Darlene Sauve passed away on September 15, 2018.

Darlene Frances Moser was born November 7, 1938 to Walter and Leila (Groleau) Moser, and was a lifetime resident of the Rapid River area.

In 1959, she married Lawrence “Buzz” Sauve at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Rapid River. Lawrence preceded her in death in August, 1994.

Darlene was blessed with three sons, Mark Alan, Michael Lawrence, and Brent Lee, all of Rapid River. She was busy raising her sons, attending all of their school and sport functions and working. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school events. She last worked at Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District as a Vocational Education secretary for 25 years. She enjoyed and loved spending time at her cottage at Round Lake. Photography, quilting, the outdoors, swimming, shopping, and family and friends filled her life.

After retiring, Darlene and Teddy Morrison, her best friend and companion, traveled throughout many states and vacationed for the winter months in Biloxi, MS. and Surprise, AZ. where they enjoyed the beautiful warm and sunny weather.

She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and St. Charles Choir for many years.

Left to cherish Darlene’s memory are her sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren;
Mark and his wife Cathy, Mike and his wife Carol and Brent and his wife Sandra. Granddaughter Jessica Sauve-Syed and husband Adnan, and grandson Blair Sauve. Step-grandsons; Richard Kuehl, his wife Shelly and great granddaughter Rylee, Casey Kuehl and his wife Kayela and great-grandsons Dylan, Brendyn, and Jayce. Teddy Morrison who she cherished for many years with his extended family. Daughter, Christine, Karl Freund, granddaughters Paige, Megan, and Jordan, and son Michael Morrison. Brother Clifton Moser and his wife Gail, sister Brenda Patana and her husband John, sister-in-law Carole who was married to brother Allen Moser, sister-in-law Marge Sauve, sister-in-law Judy and husband Pierre Tousignant, and sister-in-law Lois Eis, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Allen Moser, nephew Shayne Moser, Sr, and very special aunt, Rita LaBumbard.

Darlene’s family wishes to thank Mary Soderman and Hospice for the love and comfort they provided.

The family of Darlene will receive friends on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 6:00 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Rapid River with Rev. Father Joseph Augustine officiating. Luncheon will follow Mass in the Church Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Rapid River Cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Sauve family.

    Dar was a wonderful neighbor and friend. Her and Ted always had a smile and wave for their neighbors. She will be deeply missed here in our little community. I know in my heart that she is with her Creator now and has made the trip that all God’s children will make after this whisper of life on earth. Prayers to all the family and may God’s peace rest upon you all.

    Darlene was a wonderful, intelligent & witty lady who welcomed us to the neighborhood so kindly three years ago. We wondered if leaving Escanaba after 16 yrs was the right move, but with our many helpful neighbors like her & Ted, it felt like home. Our family was blessed by knowing her. She had a strong faith and loving heart. She will be greatly missed. Prayers for Ted & the Sauve family.

    Dar has been my dear friend for 58yrs.Lots of memories of us and our “6” boys.She was closer than my own sisters.I will miss her laugh and gentle spirit.Heaven got another angel.

    Darlene was a very very sweet Lady. She will be missed .

    We are so sorry to learn of Darlene’s death. Darlene was a wonderful neighbor to our daughter Sherri Lancour and her husband Floyd. She made being so far from us in Kansas City easier for Sherri. I heard so many nice things about her and Ted from Sherri. Darlene and Ted have a soft place in our heart. Our sincere sympathy to Ted and all the family.

    Dar and I worked at the ISD together. She was a wonderful friend. We didn’t see each other much anymore as I moved from the area, but we kept in touch on Facebook and through many long phone calls. She had a heart as big as Texas and the smile and the twinkle in her eye always brightened my day. I will miss you “Swave” (the nickname that I have called her since the day we met) …. you were a wonderful and true friend. Your journey here is complete. God has welcomed you with love and open arms. Until we meet again, rest and be at peace with our Lord

    I had the privilege of meeting Darlene while I was a student at the DSISD (1994-95). She was such a joy and I’m so thankful to have known her.
    My sincere condolences to her beloved family and friends.

    So sorry to hear of Grandma Dar’s Passing. Please know you’re in our thoughts and prayers.
