So sorry for your loss. Dan was one of the good guys. Always glad to run into him. He will be greatly missed.

    Bonnie and family,

With deep sadness my heart is aching for all of you. He was so generous with his personality, humor, kindness and most of all how much he loved you. I had the great honor of of seeing him not long ago when he delivered my clothes on one of his runs . We sat and laughed til I had tears. I also was in many, many plays and musicals from high school on up until adulthood. Actually, we never grew up. I also had the honor of being his sales agent when working for the Daily Press when The Whiffletree opened. He was one of the most creative people I’ve ever known and sensitive behind all his humor. As I’m writing this I can’t see through my tears. I could go on and on about what a wonderful man he was but it was you who changed his life. I remember and admired your LOVE you both had for one another. He always and I mean ALWAYS spoke of you were kids first falling in love. I’ve always loved you too! I’m sorry I won’t be able to atten d the service. I am lighting a candle as we speak. You both set a high example of what love should be. AMAZING. Take good care of yourself and your heart.
    Much love,
    Susie Coplan

I worked for Dan at the Leader Store about 30 years ago and we were friends ever since. I just happened to see the announcement minutes ago. Im very sad to see the news. I am really happy I saw Dan at Mike Johnson’s funeral this year and we laughed at each other’s dry sense of humor like we didn’t miss a beat. Dan meant a lot to me, this is sad news. My thoughts and prayers go out to Bonnie and the family. Dan, rest in peace, you’ll be missed!

    Bonnie & Jeff:

I only learned of Dan’s passing this weekend. I hope you know how much Dan’s friendship over the years has meant to our family, especially my late brother. He was loyal man and I will always think of him when I visit Escanaba – his loss leaves a vacuum in all of our lives and I wish you all the best in this difficult time.

Bonnie & Family. My prayers go to you and your family at this time. Dan gave my my first job, I ever had at the Whiffletree in the summer of 1995 when I had to get fitted for a tux at the last minute. For the next 3-4 years I worked summers and weekends home from college. My father passed in 1994 and I would say that Dan filled a small role in teaching me work ethic, and “old school” business/customer service along with many more life lessons. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity he gave me and the lessons I learned from my time with him. He will be missed.

    Dear Bonnie,
My heart goes out to you and your family. As others have said, Dan was special and the two of you were a very special couple. I always enjoyed bantering with Dan – oftentimes coming upon him in the most unusual places. Cherish your memories.

Bonnie, so sorry to hear about Dan. You 2 made a great couple and your heart must be broken and aching for the love you 2 shared. You’ve always put a smile on my face after running into the both of you. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.Peace be with you my friend. Sue Bowman

I am glad I got to meet Dan and work a bit with him. He did so much to help our business. I hope he knew that. We were blessed. I have read through the many wonderful tributes to Dan. I , too, am saddened by his sudden and unexpected loss. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” You brought much joy and happiness into the lives of others.

So sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. Sending thoughts and prayers to the family for comfort and peace.

    Dear Bonnie and Family,
We were so sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. Our thoughts and our prayers are with you and your family at this time, Bonnie. My mother (Olive Carlson), who is 98 now, is living near me (Jane, her daughter) outside of Boston. She gets the Esky Daily Press and so we both get to keep up on what is happening in Escanaba. This was where she found out and told me. Again, sorry to hear about Dan. We send our love. Olive Carlson and Jane Meyer
