Craig Paul “Goob” Soderman, 50, of Gladstone, passed away Monday evening April 3, 2017 at the U.P. Health System in Marquette following complications of a heart attack.

 

Craig was born October 26, 1966 in Escanaba the son of David and Donna (Gudwer) Soderman.  He was a 1985 graduate of Gladstone High School and was a lifelong resident of Gladstone.

 

Craig’s employment included working at U.P. Pipe Company, working in the woods and he currently was employed with Gudwer Forest Products.  Craig was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  His hobbies included riding his Harley motorcycle and listening to Blue Grass music.  He also was an excellent homemade wine maker, cook and dancer.  He treasured his time spent at camp with family and friends.

Son: David Soderman of Gladstone and his brother and sister,’s Bo Sharp and Kayla and Jennifer Gravelle

 

Brothers:

Steve (Mary) Soderman of Gladstone

Karl (Colleen) Soderman of Ensign

Chris (Amber) Soderman of Gladstone

 

Sister: Lisa (David) Trott of Rapid River

 

Aunts:

Carol (Joe) Berg of Gladstone

Rita Gudwer of Powers

Lorraine Gudwer of Milwaukee, WI

 

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and friends also survive

 

In addition to his parents, 6 siblings preceded Craig in death.

 

Craig’s family will receive friends on Friday April 7, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone.  Funeral services celebrating the life of Craig “Goob” Soderman will follow at 6:00 PM with Tom Otis, Pastor, officiating.  Luncheon will follow in the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.  Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.  A Craig style Celebration of Life will also be held on Saturday from 3:00 to ? on the Days River Rd.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to David Soderman to assist with his future college education.  The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Soderman family.

    So sorry for your loss. Goob touched the hearts of many. He will be missed. Prayers for all of you at this difficult time.

    I will not be able to come to hug you all, so I told my sisters to hug you all for me, we know the great loss of a brother, you all will be in my prayers thoughts

    We’re so sad to find out Goobs didn’t pull out of it. Just saw him the Sunday before his heart attack. And, as always, it was a real pleasure to see him again and shoot the breeze. We’ll always remember his big smile and neat stories.

    God Speed, Goobs. You’ll be missed.

    A wave of sadness ripples through our bluegrass family! Goober will be dearly missed until we all reunite…

    Goober was my cherished and much loved Bluegrass Buddy! He was a wonderful dance partner and he brought a huge happy presence to every gathering he attended! I will keep his energy alive in my life with all of the memories I was privileged to share with him! (oh the stories I could tell!) He was always the gentleman! My sympathies and prayers to his David and family.

    Rest In Peace Goob! You were always such a joy to be around! Sending our prayers to your son David and your entire family.
    Your spirit will always live on and we know your big smile and warm heart is looking down on all those you loved.
