Catherine C. ‘Aunt Chloe’ Sullivan

Resided in Escanaba, MI
Died August 20, 2019

Catherine C. “Aunt Chloe” Sullivan, age 96, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully surrounded by family August 20, 2019 at the Bishop Noa Home.

Catherine was born July 5, 1923 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Patrick and Margaret (McLeavy) Sullivan. She worked during the war time effort with Briggs MFG.
Upon the death of her father, the family relocated to Escanaba. Catherine devoted her entire life to two things: her faith and her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family at Cavity Hollow, the family’s cherished cottage on Billy Good Lake. There she enjoyed swimming with her nieces and nephews, teaching them how to play pool and singing and playing the piano. She was an amazing caregiver for her mother and sister as their health declined visiting them several times a day at the Bishop Noa home. Those visits began her 15 year career of volunteering at the Bishop Noa home as she offered stewardship to residents as she pushed them to the chapel every morning for mass. She loved her Irish heritage and St. Patrick’s Day was one of her favorite holidays. She truly was everyone’s FAVORITE aunt and she played a vital role in the lives of her nieces and nephews keeping in contact with them through long letters she loved to write. Catherine lit up every room she entered with her infectious smile, mischievous humor and non-stop laughter. She will be greatly missed.

Catherine is survived by:
1 Brother: Joseph (Marie) Sullivan of Marquette, MI and one Brother-in-law: David Dykowski of Livonia, MI in addition to many nieces and nephews who cherished her.

In addition to her Parents, Catherine is preceded in death by:
3 Sisters: Dr. ML Sullivan, Britta Marie (Robert) Ladd, and Betty Dykowski
And 3 Brothers: John, Patrick (Virginia), and William “Bud” (Mary) Sullivan

Family will receive friends Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 11:30AM until 12:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba. Prayers of transfer will conclude visiting hours at 12:30 PM. Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 1:00PM at the St. Joseph and St. Patrick Parish with Rev. Fr. Timothy Ferguson officiating. Catherine will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Sullivan family.
