Barbara J. Wilson, 78, of Rapid River, passed away Monday morning November 6, 2017 at the Upper Peninsula Health Care System in Marquette following a lengthy illness.

Barbara was born July 19, 1939 in Escanaba, MI the daughter of Carl and Dorothy (Druding) Raspor. She was raised in Kipling and attended Holy Name Catholic School where she graduated in 1957.

Barbara was united in marriage to Daniel H. Wilson on January 5, 1963 at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. They made their home in Ensign where they raised their 5 children. Barbara was a cook in the area for various restaurants including the Dew Drop, Grandma’s Place, Pantry and the Delona.

Barbara loved playing cards, going to the casino and playing bingo. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for sending out cards to family and friends for all occasions and cooking for her floor at Riverside Manor in Rapid River. She will be missed.

Barbara is survived by children, Lynn (Harland) Deneau of Gladstone, Daniel C. Wilson of Mukwonago, Wis., Gary (Kristy) Wilson of Fremont, Mich., Angela (Allen) Paquin, of Gladstone, David (Lori Harness) Wilson of Rapid River; grandchildren, Audrey and Adam Fix, Nicholas (Maegan) Deneau, Justin (John Naval) Wilson, Kaylee Wilson, Devin and Emily Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Corey Wilson, Abby Wilson, Mitchell Paquin, Jacob Paquin and Brittney Paquin; great-grandchildren, Caden and Natalie Fix, Benjamin and Austin Deneau and Sophia Feikema, brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred (Lois) Day of DePere, WI, Marilyn (Gary) Kulas of Muskego, WI, Rick (Debbie) Wilson of Gladstone, Shirley Omealy of Escanaba, special friends, Anita “Lady” Barta, Judy Hardwick, Joseph Starnes, David Roberts and Kay Boudreau and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

In addition to her parents, her husband Daniel on January 5, 2014, infant granddaughter, Carrie Ann Deneau and 2 brothers-in-law, Raymond Tordeur and Harry Omealy preceded Barbara in death.

Barbara’s family will receive friends on Thursday November 9, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara J. Wilson will follow at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Brian Gerber of All Saints Church officiating. Luncheon will follow at the All Saints Church Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells, MI.

    Barb was such a warm hearted and generous person. A big part of our childhood in the Ensign neighborhood. Prayers of strength to her whole family. People like Barb will always be greatly missed and never forgotten.
