Barbara J. McIntyre, age 64, passed away early Thursday morning, August 2, 2018, at her home in Soo Hill following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Barbara was born August 23, 1953, in Escanaba, the daughter of Lloyd and Eileen “Dorothy” (Allard) Brown. She was raised in Escanaba and was a 1971 graduate of Escanaba High School.

On October 20, 1973, Barbara was united in marriage to David McIntyre at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Escanaba. Due to her husband’s career enlistment in the United States Air Force, Barbara and David resided in several locations across the country including Michigan, Texas, Florida and Japan. The couple returned to Escanaba in 1988 where they made their home, raised their son Tim and have remained since.

Barbara was employed for the Escanaba School System as a noon hour supervisor until her retirement in 2013. She enjoyed working in the yard, completing crossword puzzles, crocheting, traveling and camping, and in her younger years, spending time at the family cottage.

Sisters: Bonnie (Bill) Sheedlo of Racine, WI
Judy (Al) Howard of Escanaba, MI
Grandchildren: Delaney and Brady McIntyre
Mother in law: Greta McIntyre of Soo Hill, MI
Also surviving are Barbara’s nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara’s parents, Lloyd and Dorothy and her father in law, John W. McIntyre preceded her in death.

Barbara’s family will receive friends on Saturday August 11, 2018, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Contributions in Barbara’s name may be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance. Envelopes will be available throughout visiting hours. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Barb was a classmate of mine and also grew up in my neighborhood. Northtown. May God grant her eternal peace.

    I first met Barb when she was first diagnosed. She quickly became one of my favorite patients and I looked forward to visiting with her when she came for treatment. She was a very sweet lady and I’m sure will be missed terribly by her family.
