Andrew James “Andy” Nelson, 39, of 5272 Chaison 23.5 Road, Gladstone, passed away Wednesday May 30, 2018 at home.

Andy was born November 25, 1978 in Escanaba the son of Randy and Shirley (Young) Nelson. He was raised in Gladstone where he was a 1997 graduate of Gladstone High School. Andy worked in the logging business with his dad in Gladstone. He was united in marriage to the former Kendelle Lucas on June 2, 2012.

Andy was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wells. He was a very talented musician, loved writing music and playing numerous instruments. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and bowling.

In addition to his wife Kendelle, survivors include;

Parents: Randy and Shirley Nelson of Gladstone

Daughter: Sydnee Drew-Ann Nelson of Gladstone

Son: Trevor Goodchild of Gladstone

Sister: Brandi Nelson of Gladstone

Niece and nephew: PaulieAnna and Parker Nelson of Gladstone

Mother/Father-in-law: Patty and Bernard Kleikamp of Perronville

Brothers-in-law: Evan (Ashley) Bergstrom of Bark River, Aaron Kleikamp and Emmitt Kleikamp both of Perronville.

Maternal grandparents, Ed and Orsley Young and paternal grandparents, Bert and June Nelson preceded Andy in death.

Andy’s family will receive friends on Wednesday June 6, 2018 from 3:30 to 6:30 pm e.s.t. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wells. Services celebrating the life of Andrew James Nelson will follow at 6:30 pm e.s.t. with Pastor Al Schubert officiating. Luncheon will follow in the Our Savior Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the family.

    Andy was a quiet, sweet friend in high school. I’ll always remember his smirky smile, the way he would give me a hard time in class, & his musical talent! He will be missed…gone way too soon.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I went to school with him in Gladstone. I remember when he learned to play electric guitar and played Mary Had A Little Lamb in front of the class-I believe in 5th grade? RIP Andy

    Shirley, Randy, and Family – I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Son, may you find comfort in knowing he is in a beautiful place, my thoughts and prayers are with all who loved him.

    Rest in Peace Andy. I so enjoyed your guitar music at Our Savior Lutheran Church on Sundays. You will be missed by many. Prayers for comfort to the family.

    God bless you Nelson crew, peace be with you. Andy will reside foundly in are hearts and thoughts for all who new him. I was blessed by him in our childhood friendship.
